Molasses as an Energy Source for Sheep

Diets based on molasses as the principle source of energy for cattle are well established (Preston and Willis 1974). However, the use of molasses as an energy source for sheep, particularly under drought conditions, has not been studied extensively. The main purpose of the studies reported here was to measure the intake and production of sheep given diets containing a high proportion of molasses, and examine the effects of supplementation with forage and bypass protein.
